College Preparedness​
The college counselor assists upper school students and their families with the following:

Researching potential schools that are in range with the student’s academic standing.

Help with drafting your college essay and any other supplemental questions.

Assist with the overall completion of college applications (CUNY, Common Application, Coalition Application).

Scheduling the SAT and/or ACT.

Researching scholarships and completing scholarship applications.

Sending your official transcript to colleges.

Assisting students with obtaining letters of recommendation from their teachers.

Completing the counselor recommendation

After selecting a school, the college counselor will assist students individually in selecting/enrolling in courses for their first semester of college.
Mercy College - High School Achievement Program (Dual Enrollment)
The Smith School has partnered with Mercy College and their High School Achievement Program where select juniors and seniors are able to get a head start on their college careers by enrolling in college level courses while still in high school. The courses are offered at Smith, credit bearing and are accepted as direct transfer credits at Mercy College and at most other colleges and universities. Enrollment for these courses begin in the fall semester; the course work provides students with valuable preparation for college level work. It also saves students time and money toward a college degree!
