Connecting Through Stories:
Book Clubs at The Smith School

Book Clubs are Smith’s way of encouraging students to make reading a hobby, a habit, and source of connection with each other and their teachers. Each semester, students choose from a wide variety of books and are organized into clubs based on their choices. Book options have ranged from classics to manga, nonfiction to science fiction, brand new hits to teachers’ childhood favorites - every student is sure to find a book that will capture their interest. Every teacher leads a book club, so students are able to see that all of their teachers are readers! Book clubs meet every Pause Day and include discussions, activities, and even projects surrounding the book. Book Clubs are just one of many ways that Smith supports community, academic, and life skills beyond the classroom.
