Smith School Field Trips:
Bringing Learning to Life
Outside the Classroom

At The Smith School, we believe that learning happens everywhere, especially in New York City! Twice a year, our school embarks on all-school field trips designed to foster socialization, teamwork, and engagement in new environments. These excursions provide students with opportunities to build social skills and strengthen friendships outside the classroom in fun, interactive settings unique to our city like bowling, arcades, the Spy Museum, and improv comedy workshops.

In addition to these school-wide outings, students participate in class-sponsored field trips tailored to their coursework. Such field trips have included history trips to the Tenement Museum, science trips to the Museum of Natural History, and music trips to view Broadway shows! These experiences allow students to deepen their understanding of classroom concepts by exploring real-world applications of their studies, whether through museum visits, historical site explorations, or hands-on science investigations. Field trips are a valued part of Smith School culture and just one way that we commit to enriching students’ academic and life skills both inside and outside the classroom.
