Exploring Graphic Novels

Exploring Graphic Novels introduces students to some of the most acclaimed comic books and graphic novels in the medium, like Understanding Comics, Maus, Displacement, Pride of Baghdad, and March. Studying the interplay between words and images, students practice close reading of complex texts and expanding their vocabularies. Beyond cultivating critical thinking and literacy, students work independently and in groups on creative writing and graphic novel design projects. Classes include lectures, group discussions, independent reading, and creative collaborations.
